Computer Science Instructors Needed!

Apr 15, 2013

Ruby Geballe,  Site Director of SMASH: UC Berkeley for the Level Playing Field Institute is seeking graduate students to teach computer science over summer.

The Level Playing Field Institute is an Oakland-based non-profit organization committed to eliminating the barriers faced by underrepresented people of color in STEM and fostering their untapped talent for the advancement of our nation. The SMASH (Summer Math and Science Honors) Academy is a summer academic program (with a live-in residential component) hosted in Northern California (SMASH: UC Berkeley and SMASH: Stanford) and Southern California (SMASH: UCLA and SMASH: USC) for low income, high achieving high school students of color interested in pursuing  careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Teaching at SMASH is a unique opportunity to work in small class settings with a highly hands-on curriculum. Our instructors are guided by a Lead Instructor who will provide immediate feedback and suggestions, while also allowing teachers the flexibility to innovate on their pedagogy and methodology.
